1. What is the diagnosis?
Transient neonatal pustular melanosis
2. What are the clinical features and how will you manage?
Present at birth, not acquired postnatally.
Lesions: Small pustules (1–3 mm) on non-erythematous base, Rapid rupture → leaves hyperpigmented macules with collarette of scale, Can appear anywhere, including Forehead, neck, back, buttocks, palms, soles
Evolution: Pustules rupture within 48 hours, Pigmented spots fade over 3–4 weeks, may persist up to 3 months
Histology: Neutrophilic infiltrate, occasional eosinophils
Diagnosis is Clinical: Based on appearance; no lab tests required
Treatment: None required
Prognosis: Excellent; no scarring, no systemic symptoms
